This book is the result of collective reflections made by different teams organizing the 18th IUAES World Congress, which took place in Florianópolis, Brazil, between July 15 and July 21, 2018. We had 29 commissions involved with various aspects of the event, and this book is the result of different accounts and analyses done by each of these commissions. They concern the lessons and experiences of the dozens of people involved in the organization of this international event. The opening speech given by its general coordinator and IUAES vice-president, Miriam Pillar Grossi, opens the book, addressing the political and strategic challenges that the organization of the event demanded from the local teams. Then, 25 chapters approach specific aspects of the organization.
