Zefinha – the name of abandonment (Ela, Zefinha – o nome do abandono), 2015.

Zefinha is the longest female inhabitant surviving under compulsory psychiatric treatment in Brazil. She has been living in a forensic hospital for the last 39 years. This paper discusses how the ethical rule of anonymity might be revised in research when it concerns a unique case involving severe violations of human rights. My argument is that there are cases in which disclosing the names of research participants protects their interests and rights.
