Femicide is the term we use to refer to the killing of women caused by domestic or family violence, or on account of their gender. We must include the topic of violence against women and girls at the center of the gender justice debate. Gender-related killings and violence in the private sphere, that should be a realm of care and protection, will always be horrifying. We need to include gender and race in this debate if we aim to fight discrimination, violence, or the killing of women and girls.
